Un fromage qui pue – il faut le goûter avec du pain ou dans la recette ‘Poulet au Maroilles’ avec des frites – c’est vachement bon! (A smelly cheese – you have to try it with bread or in the Maroilles Chicken recipe best served with chips – it’s so good!)

Our French friends proudly shared this local cheese with us when we first visited them in Lille in the north of France.  It has a strong smell (when you open the fridge!) but it is smooth and creamy on bread and amazing when used in a sauce to pour over chicken and dip your chips in.   This recipe from Amandine who is from Valenciennes looks delicious – not only will you get to practice your French but also experience the flavours from the ‘Pas de Calais’ as she says “Voici donc une recette pour agrémenter le poulet, à la bière et au Maroilles, une recette 100% ch’ti!”
